CBSE implemented a Relative Grading system for the 2024–25 school year to alleviate harmful academic pressure and rivalry.
The previous system used predetermined mark ranges to award grades (e.g., 91-100 for A1, 81-90 for A2), whereas the new approach compares pupils to their classmates. Group performance is now the determining factor in students’ final grades; the exact formula may vary by course and the percentage of students who pass.
Between February 15 and April 4, over 42% of the student body participated in the annual board examinations. On March 18, the tests for Class 10 were completed, and on April 4, the exams for Class 12.
With a pass ratio of 93.60% in 2024, 20,95,467 pupils out of 22,38,827 took the Class 10 examinations. Of the 16,21,224 students who participated in the Class 12 examination, 14,26,420 completed it, resulting in a pass rate of 87.98%.
Last year, 87.98% of pupils completed the Class 12 examinations administered by the CBSE, while 93.60% passed the Class 10 exams.
The results for Class 10 and Class 12 have been issued by the CBSE in May on average in previous years. For example, in 2024, they will be declared on May 13, 2023, and May 6, 2019, respectively. Nevertheless, the CBSE board results for 2020, 2021, and 2022 were announced on July 22, August 3, and July 13, respectively, as a consequence of the epidemic.

CBSE Class 10th, 12th Results 2025: This year, what’s different?
Activating students’ Digilocker accounts now requires a six-digit “access code”—a first for CBSE. Under the ‘Issued Documents’ area, students may access their Digital Academic Documents after their Digilocker accounts are activated.
Educational institutions may access the ‘Access Code’ file that is specific to each student in their Digilocker accounts. This allows them to easily copy and share the code with their students.
This year, CBSE has also changed how students may have their complaints about their Class 10 and 12 results addressed. Students must follow the most recent standards to ask for a photocopy of their assessed answer book prior to requesting a mark verification or re-evaluation. This changes the procedure from the previous one, in which students initially applied for mark verification, obtained the answer sheet, and then requested re-evaluation.
