Odisha Govt Co-brands Mamata Yojana with PMMVY: A Gift for Women in Odisha!!

The Odisha government has taken a Valuable decision to co-brand the state’s Mamata Yojana, the Odisha government has jumped ahead in mother and child health by teaming with the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).

If a woman gives birth to a daughter, she will get an extra 2,000 rupees annually. This initiative aims to provide pregnant and nursing women financial support to promote better healthcare methods and the delivery of female offspring.

Under this program, a woman will earn Rs 10,000 if she delivers a boy; however, if she delivers a female, the payout would increase to Rs 12,000 from Rs 10,000 under the joint plan.

Financial Incentives Under the Scheme

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) claims that joining forces with PMMVY to rebrand Mamata Yojana will provide women with additional financial benefits.

• An increase from ₹10,000 to ₹12,000 will be given to women who give birth to a girl child.
• Women will get ₹10,000 if they give birth to a son.
• The birth of a female kid will get an additional ₹2,000 per year in funding.
• Only families with a total of no more than two children will be eligible for assistance, except Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). 

Budget and Beneficiary Estimates

The Odisha government has allocated a substantial budget to implement this initiative effectively:

• For the next financial year, the combined projected cost of Mamata Yojana and PMMVY comes out to be over ₹511 crore.
• The state government will give ₹395.75 crore; the national government will donate ₹115.97 crore.
• This plan is projected to help over 450,000 breastfeeding and pregnant women.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has emphasized that this initiative aims to:

Support for Anganwadi Workers

To ensure smooth implementation, the Anganwadi workers and helpers associated with the scheme will also receive increased financial support:

• Anganwadi workers will now receive ₹250 (earlier ₹200).
• Anganwadi helpers will receive ₹150 (earlier ₹50).
